The Myth of ‘Low Fat’
This myth of eating ‘Low Fat’ products such as mayonnaise or butter is one of the most misleading marketing fads that is out there at the moment along with slimming shakes and pills. The reason why these companies advertise ‘Low Fat’ products is because they want to make more money out of you by making you believe that this is healthier than their normal product, a classic example of this is Coke and Diet Coke.
The only difference between these two products is that they have substituted the sugar from the normal Coke and put artificial sweeteners into the Diet Coke which obviously makes you believe that just by looking at the label of the product that it is healthy when in actual fact it’s not and you would struggle to read this due to the writing being VERY small and hard to read. Companies do this because they DON’T want you to know that these products contain these substances and can potentially be detrimental to you in the longer which can lead to diseases such as Cancer and Coronary Heart Disease.
I didn’t want this to sound scary to you at all but I feel that I need to talk about this because so MANY people believe this crap and it’s not their fault due to the lack of education in general surrounding nutrition and exercise which is something that I want to see changed. Another problem is that the companies who make the products are making money out of your health and are taking advantage of people’s lack of knowledge surrounding this which obviously leads to people buying the products without prior knowledge.
I hope that you learned something new from this blog post and changes your perception on eating low-fat products in general.
